The Technology
Sulfate Reducing Bacteria (SRB) is the root cause for the quality issues faced by the oil & gas industry today. SRB in general are believed to be around since 2.5 billion years; they are anaerobic (do not ‘breath’ oxygen to survive, in fact oxygen is poisonous to them).
Unfortunately, the objectives of SRB and our own as users of hydrocarbons do not match. SRB activities lead ultimately to most of the industry’s problems, directly or indirectly including:
As a result of the eradication of the SRB, H2S generation ceases and sulfur becomes free to transform into water soluble sulfate. Other “contaminants” are able to react in a similar way, such as vanadium, iron and nickel.
After the SRB population is eradicated, the damage done to the hydrocarbons needs to be repaired. For this purpose we have integrated another active agent into our biological solution that supports the regeneration and generation of the shorter and new hydrocarbons. We call this process ‘direct raffination.’ We have shown that this process can generate heavy naphtha directly from crude oil without any of the process steps used in today’s refineries.
Direct raffination can be targeted in order to achieve specific goals such as:
H2S and sulfur removal (‘cleansing’)
API Gravity Increase
Viscosity Decrease.
The advantages of our biological approach are:

The advantages of our biological approach are:
- One solution for a multitude of issues
- Positive impact on product parameters such as volume gain
- Tremendous upscalability due to partial recirculation of already treated product
- Environmental friendliness.
